Stephen Murphy joins DFC
DFC are pleased to confirm the expansion of our Manchester team with the addition of Stephen Murphy as senior fire engineer. Stephen joins with ten years of consultancy experience following a BSc and MSc in fire safety engineering, having initially entered the design industry with a BSc in Architectural Technology.
With project experience ranging from subterranean environments through to high rise developments across the UK and the Middle East, he consolidates the local DFC service, complementing the established Manchester team. Prior to joining DFC, his projects in the area include the Aloft Liverpool Hotel (BCI Building Project of the Year 2015).
Stephen has researched access and egress for all occupants of the built environment, merging flow on escape routes and contributes to the development of industry standards for egress design. With an architectural background, he works to the ethos of design-for-interaction, for which fire safety is a key challenge. As such, the focus is often maintainable, manageable, risk proportionate fire safety provisions.
