Overview of the role
As part of our long term growth strategy we are offering a number of summer placement positions at DFC.
DFC will support summer placement students by providing the opportunity to learn first-hand what a fire safety engineer does. This will include getting involved in live projects during the concept, design, and construction stages.
Your time at DFC can be expected to include shadowing our team to design team meetings, approvals meetings, attending site visits, developing 3D models and meeting our entire team.
You will be given guidance and assistance to help to develop your understanding of Fire Safety Engineering.
Suitability
The ideal candidate for this role would have the following attributes and skills:
- A forward thinking and open-minded approach to gaining valuable experience in the construction industry.
- An ongoing interest in the developing fire engineering industry.
- A proactive approach to learning and development by being inquisitive and responsive to feedback.
- The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and multitask.
- A proactive approach to supporting colleagues with technical challenges.
- Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal.

What we offer
We don’t believe in unpaid internships, so we are pleased to offer a competitive placement package consisting of:

Typically, a summer placement would last for 6 weeks, however slight increases to this time frame are considered, if requested.

- Details of your academic studies.
- Evidence to prove your right to work in the UK during the summer placement.
All applicants will be asked to provide documentary evidence to prove their right to work in the UK to undertake the placement.
Applicants who are offered a placement should be aware that the offer would be subject to DFC verifying that they are eligible to work in the UK at the time of placement.

Successful candidates will be invited for interview in early 2025, for a summer 2025 placement.
