DFC Celebrates 15 Years of Fire Safety Excellence
Fifteen years ago, DFC started with a simple idea: fire safety should be clear, practical and built on real engineering expertise. Today, that idea has grown into a consultancy trusted by clients across the UK. November 2025 marks our 15-year anniversary, a milestone we’re proud and humbled to share with the people who made it possible: our team, our clients and our collaborators.
‘We’re a people business,’ says Adam Monaghan, Director. ‘A consultancy business such as ours is only as strong as the people within it and the clients who choose to work with us year after year. That’s what makes this anniversary meaningful and we’re really proud of that.’
Looking back, the vision was never about being the biggest, it was about being the best place to work and delivering real value. ‘Build a company we’d want to work for has always been our mantra,’ adds Iain Macfarlane, Director, who joined in 2014. ‘We’ve all spent time at large multi-discipline consultancies and knew we wanted to create something different.’
From day one in November 2010, we’ve built our reputation on offering clear, concise and technically accurate fire safety guidance backed by real engineering experience. That commitment hasn’t changed and it’s why clients trust us to solve complex challenges.
To our clients, collaborators and colleagues, thank you for being part of our journey. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Founding Director Jonny Joinson says: ‘Looking ahead, we see exciting opportunities in growing our expertise and meeting the rising demand for fire safety engineering. We’re investing in expertise and innovation to stay ahead.’
Technology will play a big role too. ‘AI and smart building tools are changing the game,’ adds Neal Butterworth, Director. ‘We’re exploring how these can add value while staying true to our core purpose – protecting life and assets.’
At the heart of DFC’s journey is our people: our team, our clients and the communities we help protect. This milestone isn’t just about the projects we’ve delivered but the inclusive, collaborative culture we’ve built and the future we’re shaping along the way. As we look ahead, our mission remains clear: engineering safer places to live and work and empowering the next generation of fire safety professionals.
