
IFE: International President’s Technical Conference 2025
The IFE’s International President’s Technical Conference will be held on 18-19 June 2025 at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). This two-day event will explore into the theme “Taking the Next Steps: A Collaborative Path to a Fire Safe Future.”
We are delighted to share that our Director, Neal Butterworth, will be presenting on the first day of the conference. Neil’s talk will focus on the Fire Risk Assessment/Appraisal, specially addressing “External Fire Spread: Closing the Data Gap.” In this presentation, he will explain the part of the PAS 9980 methodology that requires the appraiser to benchmark the fire performance of an as-built external wall construction against known norms (e.g. BR 135). Furthermore, he will also provide an overview of the experimental work that is being conducted by the University of Edinburgh and Design Fire Consultants (DFC) to provide test data and metrics against which appraises can assess the relative performance of commonly used external wall systems.
