Building Skills for Tomorrow: National Apprenticeship Week and Fire Engineering Apprenticeships
As we begin National Apprenticeship Week, 9-15 February, we’re looking forward to celebrating the importance of skills and opportunities in shaping our future workforce. Throughout the week, we’ll also share insights from our current fire engineering apprentices, Kerry, Malachi and Faith, who will each provide their unique perspectives on their experiences, the skills they are developing and the opportunities that lie ahead in this essential field.
We’re pleased to continue our partnership with the University of Lancashire on the Fire Safety Engineering Degree Apprenticeship programme. Building on our past successes, DFC remains committed to fostering learning and professional development in fire engineering. The programme offers a unique opportunity to earn a recognised academic qualification (BEng) while gaining essential practical skills and experience. This blended approach combines academic study with hands-on training, preparing our apprentices for a successful career in fire safety engineering.
At DFC, we believe in the importance of mentorship and real-world experience. Our apprentices engage in valuable projects, attend annual CPD training at a leading UK fire research centre and benefit from the facilities available at the University of Lancashire. Additionally, apprentices receive a competitive salary while pursuing their degree, along with support for balancing work and study through flexible working arrangements.
Iain Macfarlane, Director, notes: ‘We’re delighted to continue our collaboration with the University of Lancashire. This programme is vital to shaping the future of fire engineering, and DFC is committed to developing skilled professionals in this essential field.’
Stay tuned for an upcoming series of blogs from our three current fire engineer apprentices, who will share their insights and experiences throughout this week.
