Tom Buckley

Senior Engineer

Tom recently joined DFC as a Senior Fire Engineer and is based in the Manchester office. He has over ten years’ experience working across both construction delivery and fire engineering consultancy, providing fire safety input on a wide range of project types across the UK.

He began his career in 2015 installing passive fire protection systems across a range of sectors, gaining first‑hand experience of construction practices and on‑site constraints. In 2019, Tom progressed into fire engineering consultancy, where he has since supported multi‑disciplinary design teams on complex projects requiring a pragmatic and design‑led approach to fire safety.

In his previous role, Tom worked extensively on heritage and existing building projects, where careful interpretation of guidance and proportionate risk‑based solutions were required to balance life safety objectives with architectural and conservation considerations.

Drawing on his combined experience as both a contractor and fire engineer, Tom works closely with clients and design teams to develop bespoke fire strategies that are practical, buildable and aligned with project intent. His sector experience includes healthcare, residential, commercial and heritage developments across the UK.
