Kerry Baker
Apprentice
Kerry previously worked for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service as a Firefighter and Fire Safety Inspector in the Protection Department. She later progressed to a Watch Manager Position in the Higher Risk Team for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
She is currently studying for a BEng in Fire Engineering Degree at the University of Lancashire, where she was first introduced to DFC during their “What is Fire Engineering?” presentation to the first-year students. Following this, Kerry joined DFC as an Apprentice Engineer while continuing her studies and developing her engineering knowledge and experience.
Kerry’s interest in fire began while living in Dubai, where she witnessed multiple skyscraper fires. Initially fascinated by how such incidents were managed from an operational perspective, she became a firefighter and later developed an interest in fire safety engineering.
Throughout her journey so far, Kerry has developed an understanding of key areas within the field, including fire dynamics, thermodynamics, and engineering design. She is keen to continue learning from the industry experts and further expand her expertise.
