Jack Mitchell

Graduate

Jack joined DFC after discovering the company at a careers fair in 2023. After thoroughly enjoying his Summer Placement with DFC, he decided to join the company in a part-time role while pursuing his Master’s degree (MEng) in Fire Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire. His interest in fire engineering began as a Fire Cadet with Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service, where he gained valuable experience in practical firefighting and leadership, eventually becoming a Cadet Watch Manager.

For his current dissertation, Jack is undertaking a comparative study of available safe egress time in single-stair and dual-stair high-rise residential buildings, reflecting his desire to evaluate current areas of debate within the fire safety industry. Throughout his academic journey so far, Jack has developed an understanding of many areas within the field, including computational fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, fire dynamics and engineering design.
