Iain Macfarlane

Director

Iain is a Chartered Engineer who joined DFC in 2014 and brings significant international experience to the team. He has worked on projects across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North America, including four years in New York City delivering iconic schemes such as the High Line.

He brings specialist knowledge of high rise design, as well as a strong track record in complex sports and entertainment venues. Previous projects include the Populous designed Silverstone Pit Lane and Paddock building (known as The Wing) and the O2 Arena and Entertainment District, formerly known as the Millennium Dome.

Iain’s strengths lie in problem solving, and creating simple, elegant solutions to simplify complex building design. His skills include smoke control analysis using computational fluid dynamics and thermal radiation analysis.

Iain opened the DFC Sheffield office in October 2022.
