George Wood

Associate

George is an Associate member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) with a MEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Huddersfield. Prior to joining DFC, George has worked for an international multi-disciplinary engineering company for several years followed by two more years at a single-discipline fire engineering firm in Leeds.

During this time, he has built up a good knowledge of various building types from residential to offices, to sports stadiums, as well as entertainment venues. George has worked in a wide range of industries including commercial, healthcare, heritage, factories/warehousing, and manufacturing facilities.

George has particular interest in the design of commercial and healthcare sectors and working in existing buildings on retrospective work and operational fire safety.

Qualifications: MEng (Hons), AIFireE, NEBOSH

Experience: 9 years

Specialist Expertise: Commercial fire safety design, healthcare, fire safety management and risk assessment, construction product fire testing, classification and performance and portable firefighting equipment.
