Associate Director

Dr Florian Block leads the Structural Fire Engineering team at DFC. He specialises in Structural Fire Engineering and has over 20 years of experience. His portfolio spans various sectors, including stadia, sports and entertainment, residential, commercial, and infrastructure, encompassing both national and international projects. In his role, he works closely with a team of experts, focusing on integrating fire safety strategies into the design and analysis of structures.

Florian holds a degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Technology Darmstadt in Germany and a PhD in Structural Fire Engineering from the University of Sheffield.

Throughout his career, Florian has contributed to some of the UK’s most high-profile projects, including the Battersea Power Station redevelopment, the London 2012 Olympic Stadium, and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. These projects demonstrate his expertise in combining Structural Fire Engineering with architectural innovation, ensuring that each structure is not only safe but also functional and visually compelling.
