Rachel Bayliss
Senior Engineer
Rachel holds an MEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham. During her studies, she always had a particular interest in safety-related modules and hoped to pursue a career within safety. She graduated in 2020 and began her career in fire engineering in January 2021. Rachel worked for a global multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy where she worked on and led the fire engineering input on projects across a wide range of sectors, through various project stages.
Rachel has worked on commercial, residential and healthcare schemes, as well as on international work (including several projects based in India). She has been involved in projects from concept design through to work on several operational existing buildings. She has developed a particular interest in existing buildings, including healthcare facilities and high-rise residential buildings. Rachel has worked on several building safety cases for existing residential buildings under the Building Safety Act and enjoys working to improve safety in existing developments.
Rachel joined DFC in September 2025 and looks forward to continuing to work on interesting projects, seeking to deliver robust fire safety solutions for clients.
Rachel is an Associate Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (AIFireE) and is currently an Interim Registrant for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Engineering Council.
