Claire Micaëlli
Engineer
Claire holds an MEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Edinburgh. As part of this integrated Master’s degree, Claire developed a solid foundation in structural engineering, with a particular focus on fire safety engineering. During her studies, she explored a wide range of fire-related topics, including fire safety engineering for both prescriptive and performance-based design, fire modelling, fire science and dynamics, and structural fire engineering. Her final-year thesis, conducted within the University’s fire laboratory, investigated heat feedback from burning timber walls by exposing timber samples of increasing height to radiative heat flux and a pilot flame.
In the industry, Claire completed two summer internships with a principal contractor, gaining valuable on-site experience in setting out, concrete testing and managing subcontractors during a bridge refurbishment project and the redevelopment of an 18th-century listed hospital into a university campus.
Since graduating, Claire has worked as a Fire Engineering Consultant, focusing on design work for both new builds and refurbishments. Her project experience spans a variety of sectors, including assembly and recreation, retail, healthcare, and residential developments.
Claire is an Associate Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (AIFireE) and is currently an Interim Registrant for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Engineering Council.
